Some days are internationally important. The 1st May is one of them. It is known as May Day or The International Workers Day. The day is observed to commemorate the historical struggle of working people. May Day is now observed in most of the countries of the world. The day has a historical background. At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, people worked for a long time. They had to work 14 or even more hours a day. So, they felt the necessity of an 8-hour workday. For this on 2nd May 1886 many strikers demanded their rights gathering in Chicago. Then police fired & at least one striker was killed & many other strikers were wounded & injured. Through their sacrifices, today’s workers are enjoying some privileges. So, May Day is very important for working people all over the world.
